Terms and cancellation policy

These terms apply to dual-control test car hire booked through Nationwide.

Who can hire

  • You must hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence and provide your licence details for verification before the hire is confirmed.
  • You must have a confirmed DVSA practical test booking reference for test-day hire.
  • For Solo Hire, your accompanying driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a full licence for at least three years.

The car and the warm-up

  • Every hire includes a dual-control car prepared to DVSA presentation standards and a warm-up period before the test.
  • The car is supplied for the booked test appointment only and must not be used for any other purpose.

Insurance and excess

  • Cover is arranged for the booked hire period. A refundable insurance excess pre-authorisation is taken against your card.
  • The excess may be retained where damage, loss or a driving offence occurs during the hire.

Payment

  • The full quoted amount, including any time, weekend, short-notice or upgrade charges, is charged upfront at checkout.
  • Your slot is reserved only once payment has been confirmed.

Cancellations and refunds

  • More than 7 days before the booking: full refund.
  • Between 2 and 7 days before the booking: 50% refund.
  • Less than 48 hours before the booking: no refund.
  • Cancel using the link in your confirmation email; refunds are returned to the original payment method.

Changes by us

  • If we cannot supply a suitable car for your booked appointment, we will offer an alternative or a full refund.
